The Aeschynanthus Twister is an unusual plant with long green tendrils that hang down. The plant’s leaves are curled, from which it gets its name “Twister.” Originally, Aeschynanthus comes from Malaysia and other areas in Southeast Asia. Here Aeschynanthus means “with flowers that are ashamed.” It is not clear exactly where this name comes from, it may be because the flowers hide for a long time or because the flowers have a red color. The flowers of the plant are tubular and red-orange, making them very similar to lipstick. Therefore, the nickname of the Aeschynanthus Twister is called the “Lipstick Plant.”

The Aeschynanthus Twister is a plant of tropical origin. Because of this, it prefers a lot of light, but not full sun. Furthermore, the Lipstick plant is very sensitive to too much water. So it is best not to water the plant too much, the potting soil is allowed to dry up between waterings. In the winter, the plant hibernates a kind of hibernation so it does not bloom, but during spring it blooms very easily!
